Accepted Answer

The OVA is compatible with VMware ESXi and vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Proxmox VE. It also runs on any other hypervisor that supports the OVA format. The appliance has been validated on all three major platforms. No additional drivers or customisation are required after import.

What are the minimum hardware requirements to run the appliance?

For up to 500 devices, a minimum of 4 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 100 GB of storage is recommended. For 500 to 2000 devices, 8 vCPUs, 16 GB RAM, and 500 GB of storage is the standard sizing. Larger deployments are sized during the onboarding call based on device count, polling frequency, and retention requirements. Specific sizing guidance is provided before deployment.

How long does a typical installation take?

Accepted Answer

Importing the OVA and completing initial configuration typically takes less than two hours. Onboarding 100 to 500 real devices, including adding credentials to the vault and validating the first configuration backups, is completed within a single working day. What network access does the appliance need to reach my devices?

The appliance needs IP reachability to your network devices over SSH (port 22 by default), with optional support for Telnet, NETCONF, RESTCONF, and REST API depending on device type. SNMP (UDP 161) is used for device discovery. Management access should be allowed from the appliance IP to your devices on the relevant management VLAN or out-of-band network. No inbound connections from devices to the appliance are required.

Does the appliance require internet access to function?

Accepted Answer

Core functions including configuration backup, compliance evaluation, and risk scoring run entirely on-premises with no internet access required. Outbound internet access is needed only for CVE feed updates from NVD and CISA. If your policy prohibits direct internet access, feed updates can be routed through an existing outbound proxy. Air-gapped operation with manual feed import is also supported.

How are appliance updates delivered?

Updates are delivered as new OVA versions. You deploy the updated OVA alongside the existing one, migrate configuration, and decommission the old instance. This approach keeps the update process clean and reversible. Update packages include release notes and a migration guide. ConnectMyAssets does not push updates to your appliance remotely.
